There is so much to write about this trip but also nothing to write at the same time. Since we stayed in a wellness/detox center for this holiday there isn’t much to write because the things we did were pretty much the same every day.
We went to the resort Kamalaya; it was really nice mainly because they knew how to make the detox place as a nice holiday destination as well. So it wasn’t like my brother and I didn’t have much to do during our holiday. I mainly spent most of my time reading by the pool or doing some sort of workout. I love boxing and while I was there I was able to terry out a few lessons of Thai boxing and honestly, I think I found my new favorite sport, to the point that I will be doing it every day before I go back to school. However, I won’t recommend this place for the only reason that it is extremely expensive and there are other places on the island that would be more value for money for a holiday. I am not saying this in a bad way; I did enjoy my time there and the staff was extremely kind it is just more on the expensive side.
Since it was a wellness resort there wasn't much to do in the resort itself; the resort is a 16+ resort so it didn’t have anything aimed for kids. However, there were things outside the resort to do, like water sports or riding on the beach. We did only be able to go riding on the beach because we decided to just relax by the pool for most of the holiday and unwind from the stress of mother whole year instead of going out. I was able to convince my parents to let us go riding on the beach since I absolutely love horse riding so it was one thing that I kept nagging them to let me do.
When I went to the riding center there it was so sad to see the horses, there were extremely skinny and were ponies - they didn’t have a single horse (ponies are a lot smaller than horses and most places normally give your horses to ride). I don't want to sound like a brat and I am aware I probably do but the fact that my brother who is 6feet 5inches got a pony the same height as the one I was riding (I am one foot shorter than him and was big on the pony that was given to me). I might just be having this thought about the ponies because I am a rider so I am just used to riding bigger horses who aren’t as skinny but it was just upsetting to see ponies in such a condition. But apart from that it was amazing to be riding down the beach; since I am a boarder and I go home for summer I don't get to ride during the summer holiday and its honestly the worst thing ever for me because I absolutely love that sport so being able to sit on a horse and trot and canter down the beach was the best feeling ever.
The resort also wants us to do a digital detox along with the package we would have been doing then so they only gave us an hour free WiFi person for the whole trip, ya would have to pay for extra but my parents picked up a local skim for those ten days so we couch just use their hotspot. Even though we worked around the WiFi rule I still tried to stay off my phone for as much as possible just because it's nice to get away from the internet every so often. It was also nice to catch up on my reading; call me a nerd but to me, there is nothing better than finding a good book and just reading it non-stop till you finish. Not having internet and being off my phone was not very different for me as I chose to do this multiple times during the school year; when I might be having a stressful week I will just delete my social media apps for a few weeks and then keep the notifications off when I do re-download it. This stops me from getting addicted to my phone but it is also so refreshing to break my habit of just scrolling through Instagram cause I have nothing better to do.
In total, we spent 9 days on the island of Koh Samui and from the moment we landed to the moment we took off the island just found new ways of blowing my mind. Because of the weather being so amazing the airport isn’t an indoor airport but outdoor and its just cover by huts so when you walk around to your gate your outside in the fresh air. They had a river through the middle of the airport and instead of getting us to go on a bus to go to the plane they took us in golf carts. I just think that that's the coolest thing ever and so innovative. The beaches as well were so breathtaking; I will admit that during low tide there are corals everywhere and it's only during high tide that the water came up to the sandy part of the beach for where we were. But to me that had its beauty to it, that’s the only beach that I have seen that was like that I still found it absolutely gorgeous. I honestly love that island and want to go back ASAP.
When we left Samui we went to Bangkok and stayed a night there. I have a friend who lives in Bangkok so I was able to meet up with her which was great because I am moving schools this year so it was nice catching up since we aren’t in the same school anymore. My mum also has a friend there who showed us around Bangkok for the day, we went to Ancient City and we spent about 2 hours there but we were only able to see about 1/3 of the actual place but from what I saw it was absolutely gorgeous. We were able to take a golf buggy around and drove around the place, I sat at the back so I had to best view. It was raining that day which I am not really complaining about since I love the rain but I was wearing my white converse which isn’t so white anymore. There was also the option of taking a bike and cycle around and when I go back I am definitely doing that. We weren’t able to spend too much time there because we have our flight the same day so we had to get back to the hotel and leave well in time because of traffic; that's one thing that people don't joke about is that the traffic is crazy there.
To see more pictures of my trip and to keep up with me follow my Instagram, I try to post frequently on it.
Till my next post my lovelies x
